Description
Forsythia has core effects such as clearing heat and detoxifying, reducing swelling and dissipating nodules, and dispersing wind-heat. It is often used to treat diseases such as wind-heat colds, carbuncles and boils, scrofula and phlegm nodules.
1. Common Methods of Consumption
**Decoction for Internal Use:** Boil 6-15 grams of Forsythia in water for 20-30 minutes. Suitable for wind-heat colds, sore throats, etc. It is recommended to soak for 30 minutes before decoction to promote the dissolution of forsythosides and other active ingredients.
**Tea Substitute:** Steep 3-5 grams of Forsythia in boiling water, adding more water as needed. Suitable for daily cooling and cold prevention. A small amount of honey or rock sugar can be added for flavor, but diabetic patients should avoid adding sugar.
**External Application:** Grind Forsythia into powder and apply topically, or decoct it for fumigation and washing. Used for skin sores and early-stage eczema, with local antibacterial and anti-inflammatory effects.
