Description

Dendrobium(石斛) refers to the fresh or dried stems of orchids such as Dendrobium nobile, Dendrobium chrysanthum, Dendrobium fimbriatum, and Dendrobium huoshanense, with Dendrobium officinale being the dried stem of Dendrobium officinale（铁皮石斛）. It possesses the effects of nourishing the stomach and promoting body fluid production, nourishing yin and clearing heat, moistening the lungs and benefiting the kidneys, improving eyesight and strengthening the waist. It is mainly used to treat symptoms such as heat-related illnesses with fluid depletion, stomach yin deficiency, persistent low-grade fever after illness, yin deficiency with exuberant fire, steaming bone fever, blurred vision, and weakness of muscles and bones. Modern research has confirmed that its polysaccharide and alkaloid components have therapeutic and health-promoting effects on cardiovascular and cerebrovascular diseases, tumors, and diabetes.
