1. Promotes blood circulation and regulates Qi, relieves menstrual pain. Especially suitable for gynecological problems such as irregular menstruation, amenorrhea, abdominal pain, and postpartum blood stasis in women. It is often combined with Angelica sinensis, Paeonia lactiflora, and Prunus persica, as seen in classic formulas like “Siwu Tang” and “Xuefu Zhuyu Tang,” both of which contain Ligusticum chuanxiong.
2. Dispels wind and relieves pain, affecting the head and eyes. Ligusticum chuanxiong is effective in treating various types of headaches, especially migraines, tension headaches, vascular headaches, and wind-cold headaches caused by colds. Its “above-head and eye” property makes it a key herb in Traditional Chinese Medicine for treating headaches, with a representative formula being “Chuanxiong Tea Powder.”
3. Improves cardiovascular and cerebrovascular function. Modern research shows that the ligustrazine and ferulic acid components in Ligusticum chuanxiong can dilate coronary arteries and cerebral blood vessels, improve microcirculation, inhibit platelet aggregation, help prevent thrombosis, and assist in the treatment of coronary heart disease, cerebral ischemia, and other diseases.
4. Anti-inflammatory and antioxidant, immune regulation. Contains volatile oils and polyphenols, which can scavenge free radicals and reduce inflammatory responses, and have a certain relieving effect on rheumatic pain and chronic inflammation.
